My Approach

C.S. LEWIS

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start now and change the ending.”

My priority as a therapist is to create a safe, trustworthy, and supportive space by bringing warmth, compassion, and a nonjudgmental attitude to each session. I work collaboratively with you on your goals to support your agency and integrate evidence-based practices such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and internal family systems (IFS).

I also offer a relational and holistic approach, supporting every part of your well-being that matters to you—mind, body, and spirit. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, or challenges with disordered eating, I work with you to uncover the connections between your emotional, social, physical, and spiritual health.

This holistic approach also extends to how I treat eating disorders—sometimes food, weight, or body talk is important and sometimes it isn’t. Since eating disorders often serve a functional purpose, we'll explore those underlying issues together and what you need to thrive and live more freely.

Ultimately, my role is to walk alongside you, serving as both a therapist and a coach. I combine both approaches to help you grow into the best version of yourself. You’ll experience a balance of validation—where your feelings are affirmed—and encouragement to move forward. I will also provide you with practical tools and solutions to equip you to live the life you deserve. Together, we’ll create a path toward increased self-compassion, clarity, confidence, and inner calm.

Experience

For over 10 years, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical and healthcare settings such as a faith-based counseling center, inpatient/residential care for eating disorders, outpatient/ambulatory clinics, integrated primary care, and academic medical settings. I also have specialized experience in behavioral health coaching, working with patients undergoing weight loss surgery, and working with D1 collegiate athletes. In addition to providing clinical care, I have taught clinical skills to sports and family medicine physicians, as well as how to identify and treat eating disorders. I also provide didactic instruction and online supervision to Marriage and Family Therapy students in the online MFT Masters program at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.
